Shelter Help – General – What’s in This Section – Renewals
General Tips
This site is built in and managed in “WordPress.” For those familiar with it, welcome! For those not, here are Shelter Help – General tips to ease a very simple learning curve.
Remember the Big Blue Buttons! Nothing happens until you click a Big Blue Button. Whether you are trying to Log In, Submit A Listing, Update a Listing, Submit an Event Listing, Update your Profite (for a Password Change or Email Address), or any change, you must click a button for it to “take.” If you leave a page without doing so, your work will disappear, never to be accessed again. So look for them. They may be at the bottom of the page. Or you may have to scroll back to the top and to the right side of the Publish column. We didn’t design it – that’s just the way it works.
Here’s an example of what some look like.

Some screens will change over time. The site will evolve over time as we add and modify shelter, SOS, F.E.R.R.E.T. and administrative needs and as the technology changes. When there are significant changes, we will try to update the images and instructions. Please pardon any unintended “blips.”
For more general information about the Ferret Shelters Directory, please see the Shelter FAQS.
The Shelter Help section is made up of separate sections that are under separate tabs under Shelter Help.

Renewals
You will be asked to renew your listing every 6 months – approximately. All you will need to do is click through the link in the email and it will renew. You will have 30 days to renew. If you do not renew, the listing will “go dark” and put in unpublished mode. You will receive a second email asking for your renewal. Your data will NOT BE LOST. It will just be “unpublished.” The intent is not to loose you, but we all understand the frustration with “outdated” lists and directories on the web. We are trying to avoid that scenario.
