Shelter Help – Step 1 – Registration
To submit a listing to the Ferret Shelters Directory you must first register.
2. Click the “Not yet registered” link.
3. You have 2 registration options. One is to create a user name and password just for this site or you can use a Social Media account log-in which means you can avoid having to remember another user name and password. It’s your choice.
Typical (Non – Social Media) Sign Up
Pick and then fill in a permanent user name and your email address. (Note: You can always change your email address, but once selected, user names cannot be changed. More information on that under Editing Your Profile). You may continue with registering your shelter, however, you will not be able to access the site to make any edits once you have submitted your listing until you recieve your password. A password will be sent within a few minutes.
If you experience trouble, first check your spam filter to see if our email with your password was directed there. If not, then Contact Us so we can trouble shoot the problem.
After receiving your password you can log on from the “Submit Your Shelter After Registering” link in the footer section of almost every page on this site. You can then make any edits you want to your listing following the information under Edit A Shelter Listing – Simple.
(Note: if you previously registered as a user and later want to use a Social Media sign in, please follow the procedure above and register a new account as a Social Media User and stop there. Contact Us providing both your old account and new account email addresses and the name of your shelter. That will allow us to transfer the record. Each shelter can only be registered to one sign-in account for security purposes. However, a single user can manage multiple shelters.)
Social Media Sign Up – Using Facebook, Twitter, Google, Linked In, YouTube, Word Press
You have the option to use your existing social media account (Facebook, Twitter, Google, Linked In, YouTube, Word Press) to register for your convenience. You may be asked to give the site permission to access information in your profile and will have to agree. We do not store any of your information – it is all controlled by the social media account. If you change your password there, it automatically gives you access to this site. Using this option will bring you directly into the Ferret Shelter Directory WordPress dashboard. It’s that simple. You are now registered and ready to go to Shelter Help – Step II – Submit A New Listing.
Remember the Big Blue Buttons! Nothing happens until you click a Big Blue Button. Whether you are trying to Log In, Submit A Listing, Update a Listing, Submit an Event Listing, Update your Profite (for a Password Change or Email Address), or any change, you must click a button for it to “take.” If you leave a page without doing so, your work will disappear, never to be accessed again. So look for them. They may be at the bottom of the page. Or you may have to scroll back to the top and to the right side of the Publish column. We didn’t design it – that’s just the way it works.
